March 2005 newsletterPlans are well underway for the Priory Road Street Party. The aim is to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the end of WWII by commemorating the contribution of those who served at home, and also to encourage the older generations to pass on their experiences to the youngest. The party forms part of a national programme of similar events. We have been successful in our application for a grant from the Home Front Recall (funded by the National Lottery), some of which will go towards the educational aspects of the day. We have recently been informed that the Mayor of Newbury will be attending. Events already being planned include:

If any resident would like to help with the organisation of the party, contribute some war time memories, has suggestions for activities or would like to know more, please contact one of the committee members.
